Incumbent Democrat, Ben Ray Lujan is running to retain his seat. Matt Dodson is his only challenger in the June 2nd primary.

The only potential threat to this Democratic seat, is from a write-in candidate, Larry Marker, who will have to get at least 2351 votes in the primary or he will not advance to the General Election. If he fails to do so, it will be the first election sine 1914 without candidates from both major parties.
